About the Charities We are Helping
JDRF is the leader in research leading to a cure for type 1 diabetes in the world. It sets the global agenda for diabetes research, and is the largest charitable funder and advocate of diabetes science worldwide. The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease that strikes children and adults suddenly, and can be fatal. Until a cure is found, people with type 1 diabetes have to test their blood sugar and give themselves insulin injections multiple times or use a pump - each day, every day of their lives. And even with that intensive care, insulin is not a cure for diabetes, nor does it prevent its eventual and devastating complications, which may include kidney failure, blindness, heart disease, stroke, and amputation. JDRF is dedicated to finding a cure for diabetes, and second only to the US Government, JDRF is the largest provider of research funding toward that goal. The Foundation has directed more than $1.6 billion to diabetes research since its inception in 1970 and is noted for it's cost-effective dollar-to-mission ration, as highlighted in Barron's and several other notable publications.
The mission of Christel House International is to help children around the world break the cycle of poverty and become self-sufficient, contributing members of society.Christel House is a place for children to learn and achieve success with dignity. Christel House children learn the key values of respect, responsibility, independence and integrity. They are taught to develop a passion for learning and to maximize their human potential. They realize that the opportunities and care provided to them by Christel House emanate from love for their fellow man and a desire to help make the world a better place.
